Because on a dual channel RAM set up 1 and 2 is for channel one, 3 and 4 is for channel two. If you have two sticks you want one in channel one and the other in channel two, otherwise you will only get half the performance.
Why RAM is on the slots 1 and 3 but not on slots 1 and 2?
