MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) and joint pain

Short video of my experiences after eating food containing Monosodium Glutamate or MSG for short.

I had been frequenting my local Chinese takeaway, I actually love prawn chow mein. However, the MSG in the prawn chow mein does not love me. I started to get really bad joint pains and a big lump or inflammation particularly on my left wrist, so painful and made me quite irritable. I started to look closely at what I had been eating and realised that the only different thing in my diet was the prawn chow mein. Narrowed it down to the liquid sauce containing MSG that they add to the chinese food.

Spoke to the woman in the chinese takeaway andshe says that each time I come in I should request that it should not be added to my food. Stopped eating that stuff for a few weeks and felt much better. The next time I went in the takeaway, I requested that MSG should not be added to my food, no side effects to report after that. Also, the food looks a lot brighter and lighter without the sauce containing MSG, which normally give a brownish looking chow mein.

I still have a bit of a lump on my wrist, but it has gone down significantly and the pain has pretty much vanished after requesting that the MSG be taken off my menu!

I only ever get joint pain when I eat food containing MSG. The woman in the
chinese takeaway knows because we talked about it. Whenever I go there she
marks the order for them not to add the MSG stuff. The food tastes
different but I don’t get the wrist pain. Only other time I had wrist pain
was in a car crash, years ago. Those things cause neurological disorders as
    well.

  2. Avoid chinese take-aways like the plague!!! More than 90% of chinese food
or chinese supermarket has msg! I have checked!! Plus the fresh produce is
    not organic thus highly contaminated.

  3. …MSG makes a lot more trouble in some than just joint pain, ~it also
messes up the brain, artificial sweeteners are much more toxic and
acumliative = bad shit and not part of what our body needs or wants.

@control735 Yes, this and aspartame and all those other poisons in our
foods. Yep, it IS poison alright, each time I have anything with MSG or
Aspartame, I get joint pains in my wrists especially, and top of my neck
between my shoulder blades and generally feel unwell. Took me a little
    while to make the connection.

  5. Well…I’m almost certain that you eat MSG every single day. There is MSG
in almost ALL processed food. The amount of MSG is most likely much greater
in Chinese food than in processed food and that’s why you get the reaction
from it. I try to avoid MSG completely by NEVER buying processed food. I
cook everything from scratch. I never drink soda pop or eat bought candy. I
make my own candy. I drink only pure tea and never buy flavored tea. Even
black tea from Lipton has MSG.

  7. So what are the main culprits to avoid in ones diet? I have joint pain
myself and exercise along with a few vitamin supplements keeps it at bay. I
also have one of those little electric pulse gadgets with sticky pads that
work very well on my knee. Peace

@imperfectionKillz I think that maybe the red cayenne pepper soup had some
stock cubes in it containing MSG. It’s funny, but those little stock cubes
and even the seasoning and herbs can get overlooked and many of them
    contain chemicals that aren’t natural.

@sollostyles Hi, no I don’t eat anything with MSG in it. As soon as I eat
anything containing it, I get very ill. Yes, there are a number of side
effects associated with (Monosodium Glutamate) MSG and aspartame and other
    artificial sweeteners.

  10. there could be natural msg found in that shrimp youre eating. chow mein may
already have msg in it. i believe if you just eat in moderation the foods
that dont have high concentrations of msg, it should be ok. i have eaten
msg enchanced foods all my life – i’ve had headaches when i was a toddler,
but it was never a big deal. i have joint pain that come and go myself but
i thought it was due to lack of nutrition. my parents have either back or
joint pain as i used to. who knows.

@applechowder Hiya, Thanks for your comment. I don’t normally eat these
things (although I love prawns), but when I do eat them, and also depending
on where I buy them, I get the pain in my joints. The lady in the Chinese
takeaway says her granddad gets them too, very badly. Anyway, when I don’t
eat any MSG foods I’m usually fine until I eat those. Been to see a
rheumatologist and nothing…It’s definitely something consumed. Also, I’ve
never ever really suffered with allergies before.

  12. Msg and bleached white sugar are the 2 leading causes of cancer in the
world . I hope you can resist the craving . I made an almost fatal mistake
and had msg poisoning. I have never had joint pain but this was unreal. The
dizziness and throbbing headaches have convinced me this is a death
    ingredient .

@uklocations It’s true, proper food with real natural seasoning doesn’t
need those false chemical additive poisons, from what I can see it gives
the food a ‘better’ taste because it is tricking the brain. A friend cooked
some food the other day with all seasoning or something like that, next day
my neck was hurting so badly, went and looked on the ingredients list and
there was MSG in the form of flavour enhancer…It damages the nerves as
    well, a neurotoxin…Poison.

  14. I want to thank you for this video. By avoiding eating MSG I have gotten
rid of pain in my shoulder. I was eating bullions which are loaded with the
stuff. E621 I think it is. MSG is disguised under all kinds of names in the
ingredients list. This poison should be BANNED. I have improved my health
greatly in EVERY WAY since I cut out the stuff completely. Thanks again for
    this video nice young lady.

@illkd1783 “MONKEY/GORILLA PAIN? LOL” What are you trying to tell me with
your simple comment above? Are you trying to tell me that YOU are a
monkey/gorilla? LOL Well, no wonder your page is unavailable with your

@bobbycatacutan Hi, I usually read the label when I’m out
shopping….ALWAYS READ THE LABEL!!…..Also, in the Chinese takeaway, you
can ask them to leave out the MSG.

  17. right on! Just had some of the poison in the form of Chips and Curry, knee
been hurting all day. Thing is, “proper” oriental food doesn’t need it.
