debate, this notion that the Fed has unchecked power is a simply a fantasy.
As Greenspan has noted before, the Federal Reserve was created by a
Congressional law, and just a quickly Congress could dissolve the Fed and
it's power with a act of Congress (simple majority vote).

policy pushing banks to make stupid investments, manipulating the interest
rate to keep the housing bubble blowing up, Fannie and Freddie taking on
trillions of dollars of terrible loans, and lowering the lending standards
