  1. Why the hell would they ruin a newly opened building just to save a bunch
of losers that can work a fucking scaffolding right. If I was the
firefighters I would’ve just ignored them and let the scaffolding just fall
on it’s own and killed those window washers and added them to the names of
the original twin towers jumpers from 9/11. It wouldn’t have been no harm
    done.

  2. I’m glad those guys are safe, they would have to pay me close to 100,000 an
hour to do that job. Why not design the building to have windows rotate
around so they can be cleaned from the inside of the building, or is it bad
at that height to open a window? I’m from the south and the two tallest
buildings in my town is 6 or 8 floors, I Googled New York City and was
amazed at all those tall building in one small area, It would be nice to
visit but I could never live there unless it was in front of Central Park
so I could see the trees and sky, I believe that is where the rich live so
I would have to be rich to live in New York City.

  3. “If something like this happens on a ship’s maiden voyage, it will sink.”

-A passenger on board the Titanic after it close avoided a collision with a
tugboat while leaving Southhampton. Reason for the near miss then: Well.. a
    broken rope.

  4. So sketchy, probably wouldnt help but if you wore a parachute just incase
you might have been able to get a bit of distance to jump off and parachute
to the ground (If the platforms second rope were to snap) and no one was
able rescue you. Glad no ones dead but it seems like theres gotta be a
safer way to wash windows haha.

  5. I am an electrician as well as sign man and the company I work for
specializes in high rise buildings so this hits close to home for me. We
use a swing stage all the time and this is one of my biggest fears. You
wouldn’t believe some of the setups they have for buildings that don’t have
parapet walls. Its called weight and beam and all it is is a beam with
weights attached to it and this is all that holds you! No physical
attachment to the building like other systems. Granted there is one or two
safety tie back cables that stop you from completely from falling but you
still fall until the slack in the tie back is gone. This is what I feel you
are seeing here with this accident. We setup our own stages and this is a
terrible thought to think what it might feel like to drop till the tie back
catches you. Or the possibility of the 1000’s of lbs of steel weights
    crashing down on you.

  6. “they” just landed a probe on a moving comet 350 million miles away yet we
can’t make a robot to handle this highly risky task right here on earth.
