  1. If I were to do it all over again I'd purchase another Daiwa Saltist 30H star drag instead of the Avet. It is a much better all around fishing reel for the type fishing I do. It is also much easier to clean and service than the lever drag Avet. I have a video of me casting it on my channel.

  2. The Avets are not very castable without being magged. You can either mag it yourself or buy the MC version. I must say that the MC version is a tad over braked but if you put the lever in the bait position instead of the freespool position, it pulls the spool slightly away from the magnets and it just about perfect for actual fishing conditions. That St. Croix rod may be a tad too short for distance casting. I prefer rods from 10.5′ to 13′ long. It is a Thanks for watching and commenting.

  3. HI, Great Catch! I’m heading to Jekyll in 2 weeks and would like some tips on what areas to fish. I’ve mostly fished off the pier but prefer fishing from the shore. I have all the gear, I’m just not really sure what areas are better than others, deeper water, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I hope to have my own video to post soon.
