The way I understand it, they were originally created in a time period of
authoritarianism and had to maintain a certain amount of secrecy due to the
monarch of the host country.
The purpose appears to have been to further liberty, egality,
and fraternity among-st the members and the world wide society. After the
United States was created, the amount of secrecy required in order to
further those three tenets became severely reduced, the way I understand
it, because the US government system had similar goals.
A certain amount of secrecy may still be required due to majority rules
authoritarianism overrunning security of liberty in a Democratic country.
However, in the United States, our Democracy is regulated by security of
liberty, but there is still a chance that security of liberty can be
overruled with majority rules authoritarianism thus necessitating a certain
amount of secrecy in an organization with those particular tenets.
It's no secret that the pyramid on the dollar bill is Masonic, just like
it's no secret that the founding fathers where Masons. It's no secret that
DC is filled with Masonic monuments and buildings. So for that lady to say
the pyramid on the dollar bill isn't Masonic, completely discredits
