I paid off the mortgage on my suburban 3 bedroom home. To me, this means I
have a place to live and only have pay taxes, insurance, and utilities. A
sum of money when added up exceeds the average rental rate on a section 8
subsidised residence in my community. Since I am 62 and am unemployed I may
not be able to continue the charade of ownership much longer. Then Section
8 may be my only way to have a roof.
